A Note From Me

Why I’m doing this.

My name is Dean, and I started Help Around The House because I know there are a lot of small things that can become big headaches when you don't have someone nearby to help.

I’m a pretty handy person. I’m comfortable with tools, basic repairs, technology problems, yardwork, moving things around, and figuring out the little everyday problems that come up at home. I also find myself with time on my hands, and I’d rather use that time doing something useful for someone else.

This is not a business in the usual sense. I’m not trying to sell anyone a service, pressure anyone into anything, or turn every request into a job. I just want to create a simple way for seniors to ask for help when they need it.

A lot of older adults are independent and capable, but still run into things that are harder than they used to be: a phone that won't work right, a heavy box that needs moving, weeds that got out of hand, a loose handle, a confusing form, or just needing a ride to the store.

I know it can feel uncomfortable to ask for help. My hope is that this site makes it feel a little easier.

My labor is free. If something requires parts, materials, supplies, or other out-of-pocket costs, I’ll do my best to explain that clearly ahead of time. Donations are appreciated because they help cover those costs and keep this available for others, but the point of this site is simple: helping seniors get a hand when they need one.

If I can help, I'll. If I can’t, I’ll be honest about that too.
